Promoting Mental Health and Leveraging Education into Regional Resilience

After nearly three years under constant threat from the northern border, the Galilee’s residents—many of whom were displaced for extended periods from their communities—are dealing with the complex effects of trauma, with worrying consequences for health outcomes, productivity, and culture in the Galilee. Through degrees in social work—including a new program that focuses on trauma and resilience—and fields associated with education, we equip graduates to strengthen individuals and communities’ abilities to heal, assist each other, and create a culture of mutual responsibility.

We currently offer the following social-sciences and humanities degrees:

  • B.A. in social work
  • B.A. in literature, art, and music
  • B.A. in behavioral sciences
  • B.A. in multi-disciplinary studies: criminology and compliance; special education and psychology; political science and management; and economics and management
  • M.A. in organizational sociology
  • M.A. in social work with a major in youth at risk and their families
  • M.A. in social work with a major in trauma and resilience

ZAC also offers retraining for a bachelor’s in social work and a program for the completion of an M.A. in social work.

Degrees that Work: What Graduates Say

I was looking for an academic institution where I could study sociology. At ZAC I found great lecturers who don’t just recite articles at you, but share the material with you as they teach. They aren’t distant; there's no gap between us, and their approach is positive and direct. I'm encouraged to continue to a master’s degree.

When I weighed my options, I examined each college’s advantages and drawbacks. ZAC suited me on several counts: the high level of instruction, the welcoming social life, and the chance to study with young men and women whose background and ambitions match my own.
